About

Caroline Boles Terry, a student at the Univeristy of South Carolina and a sister of Delta Zeta (Beta Delta, Fall 2003), was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) in 2004. The sisters of Delta Zeta organized two bone marrow drives in the spring of 2005 with the National Bone Marrow Registry and the local American Red Cross to find a match for Caroline. With collective efforts, our chapter added over 600 people to the bone marrow registry in 2005 alone.

Caroline found a donor and received a stem cell transplant in June 2005. Sadly, due to complications with the transplant, Caroline passed away on August 22, 2005. However, her memory lives on as we continue to host an annual Sweet Caroline Bone Marrow Drive each spring in her memory and save lives through the names added to the bone marrow registry.
